Sebring Classic 2017 Highlights

Here's a quik video I made of some of the best pictures I took at this past weekends 12 hours of Sebring Classic, Pistons and Props race and air show at, well you guessed it, Sebring International Raceway. It was my first long distance camping trip with my Harley. Learned a lot, more on that later. Enjoy the 3 min show.

Sebring Classic 12 Hrs

I didn't even know these classic events existed, so bought my VIP ticket for the Pistons and Props 12 hour classic race at Sebring from Nov. 30 to Dec 3rd 2017. Using this as a warmup for next years 2018 IMSA Retirement Tour starting in January.

Hurricane Irma

Due to Hurricane Irma, last weeks trip to Key West was canceled. We may go before years end otherwise my first trip will be the start of my IMSA tour at the end of January.

1000 miles

A small milestone... 1000 miles on the beast, just got the break-in service done... ready for my long distance trips...

1st out of town ride...

Call this a warm up for my next years IMSA tour... 1st out of town ride this pass weekend, just a click under 200 miles, 3 hour time... one way, then the return the next day.

Things I learned on my very first distance ride?

1) I hate full face helmets, I know their safe and better for you but my face sweat so much my sunglasses fogged up, and once I had to pull over to wipe sweat from my eyes, but then when I got home I noticed all the bugs on the shield that would of been in my face, so I'm undecided on a half or full in the future..

2) I should always wear a long sleeve shirt at minimum, should invest in a nice motorcycle jacket but that would of been hot as hell, I was already hot with just a T-shirt on with a leather vest over it. 5 of the 6 hours of riding was cloudy, but I had 1 hour of Florida sunshine and got my arms burnt.

3) If you do a lot of highway driving, even with a pretty good sound system, really couldn't hear the music or voice commands from my GPS. I had the settings with all sound coming out of the speakers, may have to change that to in helmet speakers in the future.

4) Even thou my Harley has a nice hands free system, and/or all the controls on grips, it was still a little confusing to use stuff while riding, but that may just be inexperience, definitely need to learn to use the voice command system.

5) and finally, thou it was a good ride, but not very scenic, a lot of my time was spent on concentrating on what I was doing, what lane I was in, what part of the lane, road hazards, other drivers, what is that guy going to do, does he see me etc etc it was actually very tiring to ride, but again that's probably due to lack of experience and should get better in time, and more scenic openings.

After the sale was surprised and impressed that Harley Davidson of Naples sent me a poster of my bike, along with a calendar and 12 postcards, all with my bikes image on it...and then a download link for the picture...

2017 Harley Davidson Ultra Glide Limited...

Welcome...

Welcome all to my riding blog. I recently retired, bought me a 2017 Harley Davidson Ultra Limited touring bike and plan on sharing my adventures here. The basic plan is a couple of in state tours here in Florida, like down to Key West with my woman. Next year (2018) I plan on travelling to the IMSA endurance races on the IMSA sport car race calendar, I'll be alone for those. Then the wife and I will continue our tours across America to landmarks, national Parks, and long lost friends in 2018 and beyond. Follow my blog here for updates if you wish.
